* AMERICAN SMOOTH:

            The American Smooth style of dance consists of four unique dances:  the Waltz, the Foxtrot, the Tango, and the Viennese Waltz.  This social and competitive style of dancing is based on the performances of dancing legends, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.  This is one of the most popular dance styles to learn.

* AMERICAN RHYTHM:

            The American Rhythm consists of five latin-american dances known as the ChaCha,  the Rhumba, the Swing, the Bolero, and the Mambo.  This style in known to be more social than its International counterpart.

* INTERNATIONAL LATIN:

            The International Latin consists of five latin dances that are studied and competed worldwide.  Those five dances are the ChaChaCha, the Slow Rhumba, the Samba, the Paso Doble, and the Jive.

* INTERNATIONAL STANDARD:

            The International Standard is made up of five beautiful dances known as the Waltz, the Foxtrot, the Tango, the Viennese Waltz, and the Quickstep.  In Standard, the partners must not break away from their dancing frame with each other which makes this style very technical as far as body positioning & footwork, and creates a less artistic look than that of the American Smooth.

* INTERNATIONAL VS. AMERICAN STYLES:

            The International tempos differ from that of the American version, which allows for a difference in body action and interpretation of music.

* SPECIALTY DANCES:

            These are “extra – curricular” dances that are studied on either a social or competitive level and consist of the Merengue, Salsa, Nightclub TwoStep, Argentine Tango, Country TwoStep, West Coast Swing, and the Jitterbug.

* THEATRE ARTS / INTERPRETIVE:

            This style involves the combination of ballroom dancing with lifts, tricks, and choreography that tells a story to a piece of music.  Pairs figure skating and Ice Dancing greatly resemble this style of dancing.
